Dermatologist

If you have symptoms of a disease affecting the skin, hair, nails, or mucous membranes, you should consult a dermatologist, if that condition is not responding to home treatment. Dermatology is the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases related to skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. The specialists who practice dermatology are called dermatologists. The common diseases under the scope of this specialty include all kinds of skin diseases such as acne, eczema, scar treatments, skin cancers, dermatitis, warts, moles, fungal infections, scars, eczema, cold sores, and psoriasis. The surgical procedures commonly conducted under this specialty include those for removal of skin cancers at an early stage, removal of outgrowths to improve skin appearance and to confirm diagnosis such as biopsies.
